Set in the near future when artificial organs can be bought on credit, it revolves around a man who struggles to make the payments on a heart he has purchased. He must therefore go on the run before said ticker is repossessed.
In the near future, the company "The Union" provides expensive prosthesis to improve the lives of the clients. However, the company sends repo men to retrieve the artificial organs for those that do not pay the installments. The former soldiers Remy and his best friend Jake are among the best repo men of the company; however Remy's job cost his marriage and his wife Carol leaves him. When Remy is ready to request to be transferred to the sales department expecting to save his marriage, he has an accident with a defibrillator and he needs heart transplantation. The prosthesis is very expensive and Remy changes his behavior after the medical procedure, and he is no longer capable of chasing the debtors. Meanwhile Remy helps the singer Beth, who owes a large amount to The Union, and sooner they are chased by the repo men.
I saw trailers for this and thought it looked like it might be a hidden gem. I was left slightly disappointed.<br/><br/>I could see the potential all the way through this film but it just never reached it. It wasn&#39;t the story that let the film down, it wasn&#39;t the acting, perhaps it wasn&#39;t the script or perhaps it was… Overall I think the director just couldn&#39;t make full use of what they had. A real shame.<br/><br/>This isn&#39;t the worst film your ever going to see but it won&#39;t leave you excited after the event, dying to discuss it with the people you just watched it with or aching to tell your mates to see it. You&#39;ll just finish the movie, go do something and forget most of what you&#39;ve seen.<br/><br/>Meh.
Sci-Fi Thriller with action about no-nonsense Repo Men of artificial organs, one of them (Mr.Law) loses his original heart and grows a conscience, then, because unable to do his job and earn money to pay for the metal, has to come up with a way to stay alive. Old buddy conflict and new love interest interwoven on the way to Paradise…;-)<br/><br/>Maybe I&#39;m too old for this movie …felt like: seen that before…seen that before….seen that before….<br/><br/>Saw the end coming a mile away - I actually thought M5 began with the malfunctioning zappers…that&#39;s when the movie lost me…plus it got boring…<br/><br/>So - three points for Jude Law, cause he&#39;s a sight for sore eyes :-) <br/><br/>1 point for the idea. <br/><br/>And one point shared by Liza Lapira (gotta love her!) and the last twenty minutes, which, though predictable, had style, especially with the music (forgiving the Pulp Fiction rip off…tsts)<br/><br/>Not really recommendable, watch Futureworld instead…that&#39;s(in imaginary caps) where I&#39;ve seen it before…
There's not a lot of humor here, just violence and more violence. The acting is fine enough - Whitaker, of the talented bunch, seems to be having the best time - but the slicing and dicing overpowers the cast, the story and everything else.
Repo Men is based on the novel The Repossession Mambo by Eric Garcia. It&#39;s called &quot;Burn My Shadow&quot; by UNKLE. The DVD and Blu-ray disc releases of the film contain both the theatrical version (rated R) and an unrated version of the movie. The longer cut has approximately 7 minutes of additional footage, mostly containing story-driven scenes but also some slight corrections of editing mistakes and some new gore.
